The VARLEYS Project
If we're being totally honest, food poverty is something that makes us really quite cross, particularly when it involves kids.
Did you know that there are nearly 3000 foodbanks in use across the United Kingdom with 10% of these in London alone? In addition to this, there are 4.3 million children living in poverty.
Varleys are determined to do their bit to get this number down.
We have partnered with local Primary Schools and childcare providers in Upminster to support families who might be struggling to make ends meet. Fruits, vegetables, breads and other foods that are approaching their 'use by dates' are offered to local children and families every Friday at designated spots on the school premises.
The Vision of the Varleys Project is to support schools and foodbanks help local families get to a point where the Project is no longer needed.
